12.70 LAKH ENROLL WITH YOUTH AKALI DAL

Following the screening of 12.70 lakh members, who have recently been enrolled in the Youth Akali Dal, the party has found anomalies in around five per cent of the forms — some of which may turn out to be fake cases. Also, for the first time, an advisory body has been set up for the wing. A 40-year cut-off age has also been fixed for those who wish to join the Youth Akali Dal.
According to sources, the private firm hired by the youth wing had informed the party office bearers that around five per cent forms could turn out to be fake or that details of the newly-enrolled members are missing. In some cases, the details are present but when cross-checked, the concerned person was not found to be living at the address mentioned in the form. In such cases, the person who had filled the form has been told to reverify the details, which will again be cross-checked.

Speaking to reporters, Shiromani Akali Dal (Youth Wing) president Bikramjit Singh Majithia said: “We had hired a Delhi-based agency to screen the forms filled up by our youth wing workers. Some 12.70 lakh new members have been enrolled.”
