Punjab is rudderless, says PPP chief Manpreet

Punjab is rudderless and those at the helm of affairs lack the courage to take radical measures that are needed to revive the ailing state economy, observed Punjab People’s Party (PPP) chief Manpreet Singh Badal here today.

He was talking to mediapersons on the sidelines of an interactive session with party activists from urban constituencies at Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan. Manpreet said the state economy was in a shambles and populist policies being pursued by the ruling alliance were adding to the crisis.

PPP TO OPPOSE DISMANTLING OF BHATINDA THERMAL PLANT

The Punjab People's Party (PPP) will oppose the proposed dismantling of the ash-spewing thermal plant of Bhatinda with tooth and nail as committed by Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.

The party will launch agitation if needed in this regard. Stating this, PPP chief Manpreet Singh Badal told reporters that his party would also oppose forcible acquisition of land in Gobindpura village by the state government for setting up a thermal power plant there in the private sector. Activists of his party would stage dharna on August 27 at Gobindpura in favour of owners (farmers) of the said land.

Supporting the ongoing agitation of social activist Anna Hazare, Mr Badal said his party was strongly opposing not only corruption but also deadly against drug abuse, unemployment, illiteracy, poverty and inefficiency whereas agitating Hazare was only fighting against corrupt prevailing system which could not be changed through non-violence agitation. It could only be changed with competition.

PPP questions Badal dal's support for Anna Hazare's movement

Today is 19-8-2011 Badal dal held 2 hours demonstrations supporting Anna Hazare's anti corruption movement but even in these demonstrations Badal dal workers accused their own leaders of corruption.

One such incident occured today at Jalandhar,when 2 speakers at Badal dal demonstration accused the revenue department of corruption in the presence of Badal dal leader Ajit Singh Kohar.

People's party of Punjab leaders at a PC at Chandigarh also said 6 senior leaders of Badal dal were themselves involved in corruption cases.

Besides Badal dal we know some senior BJP leaders like Raj Khurana,Manoranjan Kalia and others are also facing corruption charges.

For those who dont know Captain Amrinder of Congress was the first leader to criticize Anna Hazare and his anti corruption campaign on Day and Night news.Captain Amrinder is himself attending courts in the Ludhiana city center scam.

Since peoples' memory is short,Prakash Badal had promised to make Punjab free from corruption which was prevailing earlier in Congress rule,on a priority basis if voted to power.But nothing happened.

Manpreet is the same as Congress,BJP/Badal and of course he's a fake communist.Doglaapan is noticed in almost all his statements.

He's just making use of the anti BJP/Badal,Congress sentiments prevailing amongst the people of Punjab.

FORMER MP VARINDER BAJWA QUITS PPP, REJOINS SAD

Former Rajya Sabha MP Varinder Bajwa today rejoined Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) along with his hundreds of supporters, severing ties with the People's Party of Punjab, headed by former finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal.

Mr Bajwa joined the SAD fold in the presence of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal. Talking to media persons, Mr Badal said that it was due to the people-friendly policies of SAD that the politicians not only from PPP but also from other political parties were joining it. '

'The party is committed to give them full respect and status.'' Mr Badal said that with the inclusion of Mr Varinder Bajwa and his supporters in SAD, the party would grow stronger in Doaba region.
