Jaspinder and Pardeep win Voice of Punjab Season 2 (2011)

It was finally Jaspinder Kaur from the City Beautiful, Chandigarh and Pardeep Singh Sran from Bathinda who landed themselves with the privilege of being crowned as the winners of Voice of Punjab Season 2 (2011), after having faced a tough competition from Harjinder Mani amongst the male singers and Baljinder Kaur amongst the female singers. The winners of Voice of Punjab: Season 2 will be given a chance by PTC Punjabi to record an album.

All roads in Ludhiana led to the GLADA grounds, where the Grand Finale of Voice of Punjab Season 2 was to begin on 12 August, 2011 at 6:30 pm. It was raining cats and dogs in Ludhiana at the time of the event. The programme began on a high-note with power-packed dance display. Then followed the high-spirited performances of the contestants. The first round of folk songs was followed by the duet song. Harjinder surpassed the performance of others with his rhythmic presentation of the typical ‘Tappe’. Pardeep from Bathinda apparently had the largest number of supporters in the audience. People were seen holding the posters bearing his name both in English and Punjabi. In the duet round Harjinder from Ludhiana and Baljinder from Patiala enamoured the audience with Nachhatar Gill and Jaspinder Narula’s popular song ‘Pyar ho jauga’. Karan from Ludhiana and Gurpreet from Gurdaspur also performed very well.

The judges this year are Sachin Ahuja, Jagjit Singh, Sarabjeet Kaur and Jasbir Jassi. Satinder Satti and Sahill, the anchors of the programme, took control of the stage with their memorable quotes. Rajiv Thakur had the audience laugh their hearts out with his comedy in his inimitable style. He presented an amusing comparison between the girls from metro cities and those from Punjab.

He also took a dig at the married folk and the unmarried. The audience thoroughly enjoyed his performance. The whole crowd was up on its feet the moment Jazzy B stepped on the stage for his high-voltage live performance. He began with his popular number ‘Surma’. It was followed by 'Jihne Mera Dil Luteya' on Jasbir Jassi's special request. Jazzy also churned out a new song to be released on 10 September this year ('Haale Tir Kamano Nahin Nikleya'). He announced in the programme that he has recorded seven songs in the tradition of 'kaliyan' with his ustaad Kuldeep Manak.

After Jazzy B's energising performance the names of the contestants, who had made it to the next stage of the Grand Finale, were announced. Those who reached the top 6 are: Pardeep Singh, Harjinder Mani, Paras, Renu, Jaspinder Kaur and Baljinder Kaur.
Diljit Dosanjh had the audience up on its feet with his latest number 'Fukre na' from his movie 'Jihne Mera Dil Luteya'.
Suspense about the release of the first movie first movie of Jasbir Jassi was finally unveiled with the announcement that the movie 'Khushiyan' would be released on 30 September, 2011.
