Punjabi singer sent to judicial custody

Punjabi pop singer Sukhwinder Mann, arrested earlier this month in a case of fake visas, is in judicial custody, Delhi Police said Saturday.

The assistant regional security officer of the US embassy lodged a police complaint against Mann, a police officer told media reporter.

“We arrested him July 8. He is in judicial custody now,” he added.

According to the officer, Mann helped a woman, Anita, obtain a US visa on fake documents in 2008.

The woman again approached the US embassy for a visa with her two children.

When the embassy scanned her records, it found she had formerly obtained a visa showing herself as Mann’s wife.

“US embassy officials complained to police after they found that this time Anita showed herself as the wife of a Pawant Kumar,” the officer said.

When Anita was questioned by embassy officials, she broke down. “She was arrested and sent to jail,” he added.

Kuldeep Manak recovers after 8 days in hospital Suffering from diabetes.

'Kaliyan Da Badshah' Kuldeep Manak had been hospitalized. He had suffered acute lower gastrointestinal bleeding and was admitted in Deep Hospital, Model Town. Doctors said Manak's condition is stable and he would be discharged within six days. Kuldeep is popularly known for singing Punjabi folk numbers including 'Ma hundi hai ma', 'Tere tille ton surat dendi aa heer di', 'Dhula Bhatti' and 'Sucha Surma'.
