Luxury Honey moon Resorts in cambodia

Cambodia's beaches are also becoming popular as people seek an alternative to the commercialism of Thailand. Sleepy Kep offers nights feasting on the area's justly famous crabs sautéed in local green pepper and accommodation at a restored French colonial villa.
Sihanoukville is home to Sokha Resort, which has a private white sand beach and was voted one of the best new hotels in the world in 2005. Sokha is a nationwide company and also owns its own helicopter charter service, making a daytrip to the temples of Angkor an easy day trip. Most tourists are yet to discover the beaches of Koh Kong, just across the Thai border. Cambodia's first ecolodge, Rainbow, is nestled on the banks of the Ta Tai river in a wildlife reserve for those who value seclusion more than luxury, or five-star accommodation is available at the border casinos.

Surinder Kaur ‘Nightingale of Punjab’

Surinder Kaur (November 25, 1929 – June 15, 2006), was an Indian singer and songwriter. She sang mainly Punjabi folk-songs, where she is credited for pioneering and popularising the genre and later was known as the ‘Nightingale of Punjab’; she also sang some Hindi movie songs, between 1948-1952

She was born in a conservative Sikh family of Lahore (Punjab, Pakistan) on November 25, 1929, where singing was considered as a taboo. But her brothers stood by her and helped her to start her journey in 1943 with a program on radio Lahore. This journey was continued for more than six decades and concluded in blessing Punjabi music with a mammoth collection of more than 2000 songs. Some of them are greatest songs ever sung.
Her husband encouraged her and introduced her to the celebrated Punjabi poets of that time like Amrita Preetam, Shiv Kumar Batalvi, Prof. Mohan Singh and Nandlal Noorpuri. And she never looked back ever since and by lending her voice to the literary gems by these great poets and made them eternal.
She gave birth to a new style of singing and represented an entire era of Punjabi music. It wouldn’t be overstate if it is said that she is literally worshipped by the people from all walks of life in Punjab. She was among the one that achieved the status of a living legend, during her lifetime.
“There was a time that the singer would sit and perform, and would sway the crowds to get up and dance. Now the singer is expected to perform, while the audience sits back and gawk at them. I come from an era where the voice was important, how can I perform today, when the musical beats and body language are used to captivate the audiences’ attention,” she said in an interview before her death, expressing her regrets about contemporary Punjabi singers.

“The singers of today,” she said, “sadly, do not sing with the strength of their voice and control, but on the beat of the music and orchestra. In our times we used to have only two instruments on stage and we would even avoid giving these instruments a microphone so that voice could dominate. The new generation should also look to improve the selection of songs. It needs a more literary refined touch.”

The lady with the melodious voice once said that the reason for her success is that she never gave up learning. She believed that a life well lived is when it has been a continuous learning process. The folk songs that she sang, she learnt from her mother or other relatives, especially during weddings. But a lot of tunes and songs she picked up from unknown people, as they sat humming these tunes.
The obituary of this great singer will be incomplete if we don’t talk about her sister Parkash Kaur and her companion Assa Singh Mastana. Surinder Kaur had a special bond with her sister. Whenever they sang together the tuning was remarkable. While singing with Assa Singh Mastana she gifted some of the most memorable songs ever listened in Punjabi.
Her daughter, Dolly Guleria, is carrying the family tradition forward, and grand-daughter, Sunaini, too is following their footsteps. The three generations had, in fact, sang together in a Punjabi album in 1995 called “Surinder Kaur- The Three Generations.”
It is sad that physically she in not part of this world but legends acquire an immortal status and this is one voice that is and will always be timeless. The songs sung by her will survive as an integral part of Punjabi culture like the following lines of Keats from “Ode to a Nightingale”.

WHO WARNS OF ENORMOUS BURDEN OF CHRONIC DISEASE

Chronic illnesses like cancer, heart disease and diabetes cause more deaths than all other diseases combined, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Wednesday.

In a global report on so-called non-communicable diseases, or NCDs, the United Nations health body said such diseases had reached epidemic proportions and now pose a greater threat than infectious diseases like malaria, HIV and tuberculosis (TB). "The NCD epidemic exacts an enormous toll in terms of human suffering and inflicts serious damage to human development in both the social and economic realms," the report said.

"This state of affairs cannot continue. There is a pressing need to intervene. Unless serious action is taken, the burden of NCDs will reach levels that are beyond the capacity of all stakeholders to manage." NCDs, which include heart disease, cancer, diabetes and respiratory conditions, accounted for 36 million, or 63 percent, of the 57 million deaths worldwide in 2008.

Yet that burden could be significantly reduced, with millions of lives saved and much suffering avoided, if people did more to avoid major risk factors like smoking, drinking and being overweight, the WHO said. It found that almost 6 million people die from tobacco use every year -- both directly from smoking, and indirectly from second-hand smoke. By 2020, this number will increase to 7.5 million, accounting for 10 percent of all deaths worldwide.

Another 3.2 million people each year due to a lack of physical activity, at least 2.8 million people die a year as a result of being overweight or obese, and 2.5 million people are killed as a result of drinking harmful levels of alcohol. A special meeting of the United Nations General Assembly is scheduled for September in New York to talk about the rising threat of NCDs, and the WHO's global status report sought to set out ways to map the epidemic, reduce its major risk factors and improve healthcare for those who already suffer from NCDs.

It said the epidemic had already ballooned beyond the current capacity of poorer countries to cope, which is why death and disability are rising disproportionately in these countries. "As the impact of NCDs increases and as populations age, annual NCD deaths are projected to continue to rise worldwide, and the greatest increase is expected to be seen in low- and middle-income regions," it added. In many developing countries where the health focus is often on infectious diseases, chronic illnesses are often detected late, when patients need extensive and expensive hospital care.

Most of this care is unaffordable or unavailable, or is covered with out-of-pocket payments which can drive patients and their families into poverty, further risking their health. Nearly 80 percent of NCD deaths occur in low-and middle-income countries and are the most frequent causes of death in most countries, except in Africa, the WHO said. But even in Africa, NCDs are rising rapidly and are expected to exceed other diseases as the most common killers by 2020

The WHO said three priorities for action were surveillance -- to monitor chronic diseases, prevention -- to let people know the about risks and help them adapt lifestyles, and healthcare -- to improve treatment and access for those who are sick. It listed its top 10 "best buys", including banning smoking in public places, enforcing tobacco advertising bans, restricting access to alcohol and cutting salt in food, and said these steps should be taken now to produce "results in terms of lives saved, diseases prevented and heavy costs avoided".

Formal short hairstyles are still relatively quick to create, but they can require some effort depending on the hair's texture. Styling products are used to aid and assist shape and durability of the style and add extra body. Other styling aids such as Velcro rollers, hot rollers and heat appliances such as curling tongs and ceramic irons can be used to help achieve extra body and hold, and create curls or waves.

Short hair is always quick and easy to manage and generally healthier on the actual hair. A short hairstyle can be changed simply by adjusting the styling technique.
