Thousands of people bid a tearful adieu to Harjit singh Nijjar, who became a victim of racial attack in London 34 days ago, whose mortal remains were consigned to flames on Friday at his native village Kallha 15 km from here. People gathered at the cremation ground at his native village in district Tarn Taran this morning to pay their last respect.
The dead body was carried to the village crematorium in a huge procession that covered entire Kallha village and later the deceased Harjit singh Nijjar’s uncle Satnam Singh lit the funeral pyre in their ancestral village. Many prominent citizens of Tarn taran district have condoled the demise of the Harjit Singh Nijjar.
Thousands of people from Khadoor sahib areas including chairman improvement trust and BJP leader Chandar bhusan agarwal, congress leader Pinderjit singh sarli, ramanjit Singh Sicky, Pardip Kumar chopra, balwinder Singh Khwaspur, Dasanda singh, youth akali leader Tejinderpal singh Shergill, shingara singh and niab tehsildar Tarsem singh, Patwari Rashpal singh attended the last rites of the Harjit singh Nijjar held in village. No Akali minister, MLA, MP from the area was present.
According to his family members that Harjit Singh Nijaar was attacked by 30-year-old Saqib Asif Khan and two girls while he was taking rest in his home and they called him out from the home and attacked with sharp thing and he died on the spot. He was residing at Spikes Bridge road House no 15 in south hall London. He was student of management technology in business academy London.
They added that one boy and two girls were nabbed by London police. But after some time the girls were freed of charges by police but Saqib Asif Khan would be produced in court on 29 July.
