A lot of people may say that age is a state of mind, that a person is only as old as they feel. Can a man and a woman ever be best friends?

CAN a man and a woman ever be best friends? This is one pertinent question that keeps popping up over and over again. It was first put out perhaps for public scrutiny in When Harry Met Sally. The hugely popular hit was then followed by My Best Friend’s Wedding (1997) and Hum Tum in India (a desi remake of When Harry Met Sally) in 2004.

India’s GenNow got introduced to the question with the Imran Khan-Genelia D’Souza starrer Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Naa (2009). This year we have Friends With Benefits claiming friendship is a four- letter word. In short, they say a man and a woman can never be friends — as for being best friends, that’s a distant dream.

Yet outside the celluloid world, relationships are far more complicated. The roles being played out in the real world are not bound by a script. Real people fail to understand what movies preach and confuse love with friendship and vice versa. Relationship experts say having a best friend from the opposite sex is one of the main reasons marriages are failing these days.

"When two people from the opposite sex get emotionally close to each other, at least one of them is bound to get attracted to the other and this can cause problems if they are married to different people,” says Dr Kamal Khurana, relationship counsellor, Purple Alley.

EDWIN Fernandes ( name changed), a creative director with an advertising agency, is right now going through a divorce and has only himself to blame for it. His story got complicated after his best friend became his wife’s best friend: “ I used to run to my best friend for every problem in my marriage. Consequently, my wife started doing the same. Slowly she got dependant on him emotionally and then she fell in love with him.” With society opening up to having friends from the opposite sex, are we emotionally intelligent enough to handle all these relationships? Not quite, says Dr Rachna Singh, lifestyle expert, Artemis Hospital. “The real problem starts when you are married and have a best friend from the opposite sex. The definition of a best friend overlaps into the definition of a spouse. And then there is a conflict,” says Singh.

A friendship is about companionship, trust and love. And a marriage is about companionship, trust, love and sex. The Sword is the only distinguishing factor. “ In such triangular relationships jealousy creeps causing a conflict,” says Singh.

Women more likely to stray in relationships

Men may have been known for straying in relationships but the reality is women are more likely to get caught up in a love triangle, says a study.

Almost a quarter of women asked during the study were found to have been romantically involved with more than one individual at a time, while just 15 percent of the men admitted to two-timing, Daily Express reported.

Of those love triangles about 18 percent started on Facebook or Twitter.

In the survey of 2,000 people, it showed half of them believe one can be in love with more than one person at a time.

It was also learned that high earners are more likely to stray than those on lower wages.
According to Jo Hemmings, a relationship psychologist, while male love rats may be the biggest cheaters, driven by lust, opportunity and a misguided sense of entitlement, it is women, who tend to have a more complex view of relationships.

What is the real meaning of ATTRACTION !!!

Have you heard or read stuff about, how to tell if someone likes ya? I believe many of us do, and of course we’re all curious to know what are the signs and behaviors that others display when they are attracted to us.

The keyword here is ATRRACTED.

You see, I kinda get amused when I see so many places giving a list of the things that are supposed to tell you what to look for when someone is interested in you. Well first of all, only some of the things stated are actual signs that show someone is attracted to you. Those are the signs that cut straight to the core and tell that he or she is undoubtably attracted to you. The rest of the signs are… well, they only show that they like you. That’s all.

When people like you, it doesn’t always mean that they are interested in you. When they are interested in you, they don’t always show that they like you. In fact, in many cases, they may even behave as though they don’t like you!

Well anyway, the idea that I had in mind for this post is to write about love, liking and attraction. I’ll talk about love first.There are different types of love. Yes we all know about the greek words of the four major types of love. Agape (Spiritual and sacrificial love), Phileo (Friendship and Kindness Love), Eros (Romantic and Sexual Love) and Storge (Kinship and Familial Love).

But when I’m talking about love, I will ask what is the type, the level, the intensity and the depth of the love? Those are the four factors that defines it.

There are different types of love. You can love someone as a friend, you can love someone as a cousin/sister/brother. You can love someone with the love of the lord. You can love someone as a superstar you adore. You can love someone as the love of your life.

There are different levels of love. How much agape is present in that love? Agape varies in different amounts. To what extent do you have the person’s best interest at heart. To what extent do you naturally consider their needs without first being conscious of yours? How much care do you have for them?

Wife weighing less than hubby is key to happy marriage !!!

 Researchers have revealed the secret of a happy marriage - wives weighing less than their hubbies.


A four-year study has suggested that in the short and long term, both partners are more contented if the woman has a lower Body Mass Index.


The researchers concluded that initially men stay in the relationship because they find their thinner partners attractive.


Further down the line, women feel confident and loved because they know their man still wants them.he study from the University of Tennessee, which selected 169 married couples aged under 35, discovered that men who had a higher BMI, which is calculated from height and weight, were happier at the start of their marriage and stayed that way.

The same effect was true for the women - by the end of year four wives with a lower BMI than their husbands were significantly happier than those who weighed the same or more.


"The great message from our study is that women of any size can be happy in their relationships with the right partner," the Daily Mail quoted lead author Andrea Meltzer, as saying."It's relative weight that matters, not absolute weight. It's not that they have to be small," added Meltzer.

Many festivals are celebrated related on this realationship in our country. These festivals are heartly waited and celebrated by the brother and sister. Raksha Bandhan is also a such festival that relates to this love and relationship.
