A Punjab youth is reported to have murdered in Melbourne. According to preliminary reports, unidentified assailants forced their way into his house and stabbed him.
His family members in Rajpura came to know about the incident when a relative called them. As per reports, Lakhwinder Singh had married Beant Kaur in 2007. The couple migrated to Brisbane with the help of their relatives, who have been in Australia for many years.
The couple shifted to Melbourne after finding better job opportunities. Beant came to India on April 5 while Lakhwinder was expected to arrive soon. "My brother-in-law Sukhdip Singh informed me around 2 am on Friday that Lakhwinder had been stabbed to death. We don't have any more information," said Kulwinder Singh, brother of Lakhwinder. The deceased was working as a farm help in Melbourne.
He said Sukhdip had told them that they had contacted their relatives in Australia to sign papers to bring the body to India. "There is no one in Australia from our family to claim the body as Lakhwinder's wife is also in India. We have requested our relatives to send the papers to us so that the formalities could be completed quickly," said Kulwinder.
