Medal of National Construction, Preah Monivong Bridge Cambodia

Do yourself a favour and don't look at Raffles before you see the Phnom Penh around the corner, with its hotel name spelled out in giant letters cut into the bushes lining the entrance. This picturesque hotel, located on north Monivong near Wat Phnom, is a top choice for its price range. Rooms, both pool and city view, have fine wood detail and crown mouldings to accent the modern decor. The showerhead is state-of-the-art, featuring a jet stream of water pressure. Any room above a standard has a Jacuzzi tub. The hotel caters to business travellers, so its enormous lobby and austere rooms feel a bit impersonal. Amenities include babysitting, a business centre, room service, doctor on call, WiFi, pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, spa, salon and gift shop. A popular buffet breakfast is included in the room price. The hotel is within walking distance of Wat Phnom and the US Embassy and also abuts the Buoeng Kak Lake area, so if you're keen to spend some time surrounded in backpackerland without having to sleep like a backpacker, check out Lazy Gecko or any of the popular pubs around the corner for friendly conversation and cheap, tasty food. For more upscale fare, the hotel has several reliably-good eateries, including American, Japanese, Chinese, and seafood restaurants. Staff can be curt.
